What to expect

You might be uncertain about what having improvement works to your home actually means. We have to follow our processes to make sure that the work is done to standard and meets funding requirements. This page tells you about what will happen through the works process and how we and our contractors will help you through.

Improvement works process

Our team identifies potential properties using EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) information

Once your home has been selected, we will be in touch through text, phone call and letter to advise that your home could receive improvement works.

Once we have been in contact you will receive surveys before the works begin. These can include a Retrofit Assessment (RA), Air Test, Pre Installation Building Inspection (PIBI) and Environmental Sensors.
We will receive a report about what works need to be done on your home

Once the works are agreed, they will be organised by the contractor. You will be contacted and a suitable day/time for the works to begin will be agreed with you.  The works might be completed over several days for example, Solar Panels tend to take 2 days to complete.  1 day for the external works (weather dependant) and 1 day for the internal electrics.

Once the works are complete, we want to check to make sure everything is correct so a post works inspection will be carried out by a surveyor and any alterations can be arranged before the work is signed off.
Included in this visit will be a final energy assessment will be carried out to produce a new Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to measure the difference the work has made to the energy performance of the home.

You will also be contacted by Cynon Taf to ask for your feedback on the experience of having the works done to your home. This lets us know if we and our contractors are doing a good job and that we learn from any feedback you share

Whilst the work is ongoing, we will:

  1. Work with you to keep you informed of what is happening and when
  2. Be on hand to support you with any questions you might have about the work and advice on how to use any of the technology such as solar panels or new heating systems. 
  3. Ensure our trusted contractors carry out the work to the standard we expect, and are respectful and tidy in your home.
