Solar Panels

If your property has a GivEnergy solar system and battery

Here is a welcome guide to your system and how it works

GivEnergy Manual

Solar panels generate electricity when the sun shines.

This electricity needs to be “processed” so it can be used in the home.  The “processing” is done through an inverter.

An inverter effectively acts as a go-between to change the DC (Direct Current) energy stored in a home battery into usable AC (Alternating Current) electricity. You can think of it as the ‘brains’ of your solar and battery system.

Once the electrcity has been “processed” it is sent to your consumer unit so you can use the free electricity and any you don’t use is sent to the battery to store for use later when the sun goes down and the panels aren’t producing electricity.

What is a battery inverter? How Solar PV (electric) Panels work

Domestic batteries can also be charged from the grid during off peak periods.

Some energy suppliers can set the battery remotley if you give permission.

You can set your battery to charge from the grid at specific times and then supply the house with cheaper electricty before being recharged by the Solar Panels.

Below is a video tutorial of setting time for grid charging the app tutorial starts at 1:30.
