Find out moreDid you know an uninsulated home loses around 25% of its heat through the roof?
Loft insulation helps keep the heat in longer meaning you use less energy and less energy means cheaper bills.
Cynon Taf installs loft insulation to 300mm (12inches) to make the roof as warm as possible.
Insulation helps keep heat in your home, but it also changes how air and moisture move through the space. Without enough airflow, warm air from your home can get trapped in the loft. This can lead to condensation, which over time can cause damp, mould, or even rot in the roof’s timber. Air needs to flow in and out of your house so that it stays fresh, dry and healthy. It might seem counter productive to alow air to escape from your roof. Heat still escapes through the loft insulation, just much slower than if it it wasn’t there. This means that moisture also moves through the insulation and into the roof space. That moisture needs to be removed, so having ventilation in the roof/attic helps take the wetter air out and replacing with drier air from outside.
Your roof should have vent tiles, if there aren’t any, Cynon Taf will install them when fitting loft insulation.
